The Doctors Orders We all know that The Doctors Orders crew have a bit of a talent for promoting quality UK hip-hop. In London they're busy promoting some of the most sought after Stones Throw names they can get they're hands on. Meanwhile, down south in Brighton they're defying peoples expectations and booking BIG names to play the most intimate of venues. On the 18th September Skitz and Rodney P will be joining Spin Doctor and Rusty Ryan at Jam for a live PA session. If you'd like to go along then why not enter our competition as we've got a set of guestlist spots and a copy of the Skitz album to give away...

Dr Dre

Who's been a naughty boy then? It's only the gat loving slinger of lowdown bassy hip-hop beats Dr Dre - that's who. Yep, turns out that Dr Dre was using The Paramount Recording Studios in California between April last year and June this year and seemingly forgot to pay up on time. Not only that but when he did agree to settle the debt, he once again didn't pay up on time and now they are sueing him for 1.2 million dollars... if I were him I would probably consider that a problem.

Snoop Dogg If there's one thing to be learnt from life (in my opinion) it's that you should always try and keep to your morals, do things for passion and never do anything just to make money - especially when you already have a lot. I'm not sure anyone ever told the american rap community this though and this is why karma continually kicks them up the arse until they learn the lesson. This month it's been the turn of Snoop Dogg (amongst others). Not only is he being sued over sample use, but he's also had to close down his clothing brand. Unlucky big Dogg.

Portishead

Portishead are one of those names that everyone loves. They are on the list with Orbital, Underworld, Massive Attack and The Prodigy. Ninties-era acts who not only cemented dance music and all it's subsiduries as worthy musical genres, but who also blew the culture to every square inch of the globe. I doubt there is a person alive who doesn't love Portishead's self-titled album - and if that's you... well then friend, what you are doing cannot be called living.

The Dub Pistols

The Dub Pistols

I've never seen them live before, so for me I didn't know what to expect. I'd heard their music and thoroughly enjoyed their big beat, dub and hiphop inspired flavours but I wasn't sure how this would translate to a live show.

Profiles

David RodiganLike some of the best DJs in history, Rodigan isn't much of a mix and blend type of guy. He's more your radio style DJ (he is after all a Kiss FM resident...) and likes to get on the mic inbetween tunes.

Tricky Micky In the past few months I've heard plenty about Tricky Micky and what I've heard are some of the most contrasting comments I’ve come across when discussing any artist.

Running Punch Running Punch are Sherlock Bones and Captain Bukioe. Bukioe is a rabbit type figure with a penchant for rhyming and his cohort Sherlock Bones is a skeletal chap who's more than adept at constucting a heavy beat.
