Ital Tek, aka Alan Myson, is a Dubstep producer from Brighton. His music can best be described as a cross between dub and minimal electronica. His rich soundscapes have earned him much respect on the dubstep scene and he’s even been signed to the highly respected ‘Planet Mu’ record label. An honour bestowed upon only the finest of electronic outfits. The respect shown to Ital Tek has even led to him being featured on the 2008 Mary Anne Hobbs compilation ‘Evangeline’ which in turn, has seen his music reach an even larger audience.
The 2008 album, ‘Cyclical’, is a deep and dark example of the dubstep sound. Each track evolves with much detail and precision, and the quality never drops below excellent all the way through. It’s impressive to see a young producer putting so much effort and care in to their music and it makes you really appreciate the possibilities for producers in the growing dubstep industry. It would be hard to imagine an artist like Ital Tek being able to do the same in the world of drum and bass. Yet in the world of dubstep he is flourishing.
Thankfully, Ital Tek has received the respect and attention he deserves. His numerous releases are well worth listening to and he’s definitely a producer to look out for in the future. His Mako E.P. was released in October on his own Atom River label. If you don’t already own any of his work then you should go out and buy it. He is a great example of what the British dubstep scene has to offer in the way of intelligent, deep and evocative music. In a few years time he’ll be in everyone’s music collection and it’s worth checking him out live. He is an immense talent and well worth keeping an eye on.
