Breakage Announces Album Release Date

Who likes drum and bass and dubstep? Yeah, me too. So i'm assuming everyone else will be as excited as I am to hear that Breakage has a release date for his album. The scheduled date is March 22nd and it will be called 'Foundation'. Sick news or what?

Starkey Dubstep producer Starkey will be part of a special feature titled ‘Building The Beat’ on Mary Anne Hobbs Experimental Show on BBC Radio 1, Thursday 14th January 2am-4am. In an exciting musical experiment the Philadelphia based purveyor of street bass music will fly over to build a track from scratch during the two hour live show live from Maida Vale, using samples supplied by Radio 1 DJ’s, musicians and listeners. Vocalist Anneka and percussionist Reso will also join Starkey to collaborate on this unique recording.

Kode 9 Sonic Culture Book The dubstep scene in Britain, and in fact all over the world, has exploded in the last few years. Just like any other underground scene that goes global, there’s a wealth of media cropping up that’s helping to define and promote the genre. There are influential blogs, documentaries on London and Bristol, club nights and labels galore and interviews here, there and everywhere. One of the most interesting things I’ve heard about recently is that Kode 9, aka media lecturer Steve Goodman, will be releasing a book soon – and were not talking fiction either.

Jungle Documentary Now I know this isn't really News, unless of course you're still living in 1994 (congratulations if you are), but I had to bring peoples attention to this video. It cropped up on youtube recently and it’s definitely worth a watch. The subject is Jungle music and it features some of the early pioneers like LTJ Bukem, Fabio and Shy FX, back when they were bedroom producers. I suppose the reason I’m bringing the video to peoples attentions is that itis interesting to think about the correlations between the early dubstep and dnb scenes

Ital Tek Ital Tek, aka Alan Myson, is a Dubstep producer from Brighton. His music can best be described as a cross between dub and minimal electronica. The 2008 album, ‘Cyclical’, is a deep and dark example of the dubstep sound.
