John Cale Rules Out Velvet Underground Reunion Shows Print E-mail

The Velvet Underground

The ex-member of the influential band has told the BBC, “It's not something I can see happening on the basis of the past”.

Just before performing his 1973 'Paris 1919' album in full at London's South Bank he talked about how the band only stay in touch for business reasons. In terms of other things though he said, “There's no communal effort to enjoy each other's company any more”.

The Velvet Underground, often said to have been heard by few, but those few all went away wanted to form a band, now have a huge and dedicated following. Only in Decemember did band members Lou Reed, Moe Tucker and Doug Yule take part in a Q&A in New York, so it's no surprise fans are hungering for a reunion.
