I'll be honest from the outset here - I've had Backbeat Soundsystem on my facebook friends for a while. I've got loads of bands on my facebook friends list though and the truth is... I haven't actually listened to half of them. This was true of Backbeat Soundsystem before Boomtown Fair. They were one of the many bands I was going to get around to listen to at some point but hadn't had the time to do so. On reflection I now wonder what the hell I was playing at... |

The musical spectrum is pretty varied and even within genres like dubstep there are acts that adhere to the basic formula of the genre but then add a whole new dimension to things. The latest act to fully blur the lines between what is dubstep and what is band music is a little outfit from Leeds called Submotion Orchestra. |

Blood Red Shoes were one of the first bands suggested to me when I first moved to Brighton and I was very glad for it. I headed off to one of their shows for one of my first nights out in my new town and they lived up to recommendation ten fold. It would be easy to lump the band in with the current UK indie guitar scene, but they're everything but. They've got a real heavy sound for a two-piece and have angrily refuted people who've suggested they need a bass player. |
